How to remove a class in Flint

Delete a class you no longer run, delete several at once, or hide one without losing its work.

Updated October 13, 2026

There may be a day when you want to remove a class from your school because you don't facilitate that class, club, or organization anymore.

Deleting a class permanently removes the class and everything inside it — all of its activities, sessions, and chats — and it can't be undone. If you might want any of it back, hide the class instead (see below). Only people with Can edit access to a class can delete it.

Delete one class

  1. Open the class and click Settings in the class sidebar.
  2. Scroll to the red panel at the bottom of the page, headed Delete class.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. In the Delete class dialog, type the class's name exactly as it appears, then click Delete.

Watch: Review class removal without deleting work

The walkthrough reviews the removal warning and cancels; it does not delete the class or its work.

Delete several classes at once

  1. In the sidebar, click the Select classes button to the right of the Classes heading.
  2. Tick the classes you want to remove.
  3. Click Actions, then Delete….
  4. Type delete to confirm, then click Delete.

Hide a class instead of deleting it

If you might need the class again, or want to keep its sessions for your records, unpublish it rather than deleting it. On the class's Settings page, set Status to Unpublished and click Save. The class stays in your sidebar and keeps all its work, but everyone except the people who can edit it stops seeing it. Set it back to Published whenever you want it live again.

If the class isn't yours

You won't see Settings in the sidebar of a class you only participate in, so you can't delete it — ask whoever runs it. Teachers and admins who are members of the class can step away instead: open it, click Leave class at the top of the page, type the class name to confirm, then click Yes. If you only have access through the school or are browsing a class you never joined, there is no class membership to leave. Leaving also takes you out of the activities and sessions inside that class, and leaves the class running for everyone else.
