How To: Remove Activity From Library

Take an activity you published back out of your school, district, or public library.

Updated October 6, 2026

Publishing an activity puts a copy of it in the library — your original stays exactly where it was, in its class or term. So taking an activity out of a library means deleting that library copy, and your original activity, its settings, and all of its sessions are untouched.

If you published to the public library when you meant to publish only to your school, this is how you undo it.

Remove the activity

  1. In the sidebar, select Libraries, then open the library you published to: School library (shown as Shared libraries if your district shares one with your school) or Public library.
  2. Find your activity. The search box at the top of the page searches every activity in that library, and the subject buttons below it narrow the list.
  3. Select the activity to open it.
  4. Select the three dots (More actions) in the top right of the pop-up.
  5. Select Delete, type the activity's name to confirm, and select Yes.

Navigating to the public library and opening an activity's details popup

This recording predates the current design. The route is the same, but today the sidebar reaches every library through one Libraries menu, the three dots sit at the top right of the pop-up rather than the bottom, the menu item reads Delete rather than "Remove", and the button beside it reads Try this activity.

If your school shares a district library, Shared libraries opens with a School library / District library switch at the top. Pick the one you published to before you search.

Who can remove a published activity

The three dots appear only for people who can manage that library copy:

  • The person who published it can always remove it.
  • School owners can remove anything in their school library. This includes school admins and a teacher designated as the active term's creator; the teacher keeps the Teacher role label while holding ownership.
  • District owners can remove anything in their district library.

Removing a library copy does not reach anyone who already used it. If another teacher duplicated your activity out of the library, the copy in their class is theirs and stays where it is.

Publishing it again

Your original activity is preserved. If you edited the library copy separately, copy any changes you want to keep back to the original before deleting the library copy.

To publish again, open your original activity, select Publish activity, tick the libraries you want, confirm that the activity holds no sensitive, personal, or copyrighted content, and select Publish.
