Activities and resources in the library

The library holds activities and resources. Tell them apart, and copy each one into your own space.

Updated November 5, 2026

The library holds two kinds of item, and you copy each kind differently.

  • An activity is work students do with Sparky: a chat, a file-upload assignment or an assessment. Activities in the library are published by teachers from their own activities.
  • A resource is something students open and look at or use: a document, slides, an interactive, an image, a video, a whiteboard, a spreadsheet or code. Teachers make resources with Sparky in a chat and publish them to the library from the chat's Share dialog.

Tell an activity from a resource

  • Above the cards, click Activities or Resources to show only that kind. All shows both.
  • A resource card names its type in a badge at the bottom of its picture, such as Document, Slides or Interactive.
  • Click the ⋯ button on a card. An activity offers Use activity. A resource offers Add to class, Share resource and Dislike.

Copy a library activity

  1. Click the ⋯ button on the activity's card and choose Use activity, or open the activity and click Use activity.
  2. In Duplicate and use activity, your term is already ticked. Leave only the term ticked to keep the copy in your own Activities without assigning it to students, or tick the classes you want.
  3. Click Duplicate. The button reads Duplicate and assign when you picked a class; follow the steps to set dates for each class copy.

Your copy is independent of the library version, so you can change it freely. See Activities: Everything You Can Do With Them for the full duplicate steps. Activities from a school or district library can only be copied within that school or district.

Copy a library resource

  1. Click the ⋯ button on the resource's card and choose Add to class, or open the resource and click Add to class at the bottom of the preview.
  2. Click Add next to a class. The list shows the classes you teach this term.
  3. To add the resource to more classes, click Add next to each one, then close the dialog.

Flint puts your own copy of the resource on that class's Resources tab, where students in the class can open it. The copy also appears in Resources in the main sidebar, under My resources. Changes the author makes to the library version later don't change your copy.

You can't save a library resource without adding it to a class. To keep a copy that students don't see:

  1. Add the resource to one of your classes.
  2. Open that class and click Resources in the class sidebar.
  3. Open the resource's menu and choose Hide from students.

To come back to a resource without copying it, click Copy link at the bottom of the resource's preview and save the link.
