How do I send my assignment on Flint to my students?

Copy an activity's link or show its join code, right after you create it or at any time afterwards.

Updated October 6, 2026

Flint calls an assignment an activity. There are two ways to hand one to your students: send them the link, or show them a join code.

Right after you create it

For a Lesson with Sparky or File Upload, select Create activity. Flint opens the new activity and its share dialog straight away.

For a Test or Quiz (an assessment), select Create assessment. In Review assignment settings, check Available from and Due date, then select Finish creating activity. Both dates are optional. Flint then opens the assessment and its share dialog.

Select Copy link at the bottom of the share dialog and paste the link wherever your students will see it — an email, your LMS, a slide.

Any time afterwards

  1. Open the activity.
  2. Select Share activity at the top of the page.
  3. Select Copy link.

If your students are in the room with you, a code is quicker than a link.

You need Can edit on the activity to display or regenerate a join code or change access. Other people with access can copy the existing link.

  1. Open the activity and select Share activity.
  2. Select Display join code. A six-character code appears in large text in the dialog — show it on the board.
  3. Students select Enter join code at the top of their home page, type it in, and select Join.

Select Regenerate code if you need to retire a code that has been passed around.

If students say they cannot get in

The link and the code both obey the activity's access setting. If the activity is Private, a link or code does not grant access: students need an existing access grant. Check General access and the people listed in the same dialog, or see How can I change the access permissions of an activity in Flint?.

For join codes, also check that the activity is saved, not paused or archived, and within its Available from and Due date window. A deleted activity's code does not work. Reopening an activity makes the same code usable again; regenerating a code does not reopen the activity.

If the activity lives in a class and is open to that class, everyone in the class already finds it under the class's Activities — you do not have to send anything at all.
