Limit access hours restricts students to using your Flint school during the times and days you choose. Teachers and admins keep their access at all hours.
Schools use it to keep students focused during the day, to discourage late-night work, and to make sure someone is around to help if a student needs it.
Staff school owners can set this up, including admins and a teacher designated as the active term's creator. Ownership is separate from the Teacher or Admin role label. Student owners of their own free school cannot open Access settings.
Set your access hours

The recording shows an older layout. Timezone now sits above Limit access hours, and changes are saved with Save.
- Click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Click Settings, then Access.
- Set Timezone, which is always visible above the access-hours switch. Access hours and daily or weekly moderation alert summaries follow this school timezone.
- Turn on Limit access hours. Three fields appear: Start time, End time, and Days of the week.
- Set the Start time and End time within the same day — 8 AM to 5 PM, for example. Choose an end time later than the start time. Windows that cross midnight do not currently allow access during their after-midnight portion.
- Under Days of the week, choose at least one day students are allowed in.
- Click Save in the top right.
With access hours on, Timezone, Start time, and End time must be filled in before saving. Do not leave Days of the week empty: an empty day list does not allow student access on any day.
What students see outside those hours
A student who opens Flint outside the window sees a message from Sparky saying it's only available during school hours, plus a Sign out button, instead of the app. Nothing is deleted — their classes, activities and sessions are waiting for them when the window opens again.
It's worth telling your students the hours before you turn this on, so the message doesn't catch them out mid-assignment.
Turn it off
Go back to Admin › Settings › Access, turn Limit access hours off and click Save. Students can use Flint at any time again.
