Key terms to know to navigate and understand Flint

Classes

Classes in Flint can be classes, clubs, or other organizations.

Classes in Flint can be made by anyone for anyone. Whoever makes the class becomes an owner of the class. (Find more on the distinction between owners and members here.)

An owner of a class can add new owners and members to the class, create activities, and view all activity sessions that are created by members.

A member can view open classes and activities within the class, or private and unlisted classes if they made them or were invited to them.

Activities

Activities are AI-powered learning activities that can act as assistants, assignments, practice buddies, or more. Some possible use cases for activities include:

  • Assess students' understanding of a new topic and give an overview of who knows what

  • Practice speaking 1-on-1 in any language

  • Help students with extra learning (24/7 study sessions before a test)

  • Give students immediate feedback on their writing

Every member of a class can see and interact with:

  • Open activities in the class

  • Unlisted activities they are invited to or given the link to

  • Private activities they are invited to

Sessions

A session is a single instance or interaction that a member has with an activity. A given member can have multiple sessions with an activity, unless the activity's owner sets a deadline or time restriction.
