How To: Upload Content from OneDrive

Pull Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF and image files out of your school or personal OneDrive into any Flint chat or activity.

Updated October 6, 2026

If the material you want Sparky to work from already lives in OneDrive, you can attach it without downloading it first. Connect your Microsoft account through Flint's attachment dialog to import it.

Import a file from OneDrive

  1. Click the paper clip (Add attachment(s)) in any message box to open Add attachments.
  2. Click Import from Microsoft OneDrive, then choose which OneDrive you mean:
    • School account — the OneDrive that comes with your school's Microsoft account, such as @school.org.
    • Personal account — a OneDrive on a personal Microsoft account, such as @outlook.com or @hotmail.com.
  3. If that OneDrive is not connected or the saved connection stops working, sign in to Microsoft and allow Flint access.
  4. Microsoft's file picker opens in a new window. If nothing happens, allow pop-ups for Flint in your browser and try again.
  5. Search or browse, tick the files you want — you can pick more than one — and choose them.
  6. Send your message once the attachments finish reading.

Add attachments panel with Import from Microsoft OneDrive selected and the Microsoft sign-in screen

Later imports usually go straight to the picker. If the saved connection stops working, you may need to sign in again.

The recording shows opening the OneDrive menu and reaching Microsoft sign-in, not a completed import. It predates the current design: the sidebar has different labels and the dialog's first button now reads Drag, drop, or upload from device.

What you can pick from OneDrive

The picker shows Word (.doc, .docx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), PDFs and images (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif). Anything else in your OneDrive is hidden, so save it as one of those formats first.

Once a file is in Flint, everything in Uploading content to Flint applies to it — including the per-file length limit.

Connect or disconnect OneDrive yourself

  1. Open the menu with your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose My profile.
  2. Click Profile settings, then Connected apps.
  3. Click Connect next to Microsoft OneDrive (School) or Microsoft OneDrive (Personal).

Disconnect on the same screen ends Flint's access to that OneDrive.

If your school account won't connect

A school OneDrive only works after an IT administrator has granted Flint access to your school's Microsoft tenant. If School account sends you round in circles or Microsoft refuses the sign-in, send your administrator Setup Microsoft OneDrive For School. A personal OneDrive needs no setup.
