In some cases, you might want to use Flint with individuals who don't have an email address associated with your school. The best way to do this is to create a new workspace. Flint users have done this for situations including:

  1. Letting people try Flint during conference sessions

  2. Letting other students/teachers use Flint for events with other schools/organizations (hackathons, conventions, etc.)

  3. Using Flint with members of the greater school community like parents

How to create a new workspace

A new workspace you create will be completely separate from existing workspaces. The activities, sessions, and users of your existing workspace will not be connected to the new workspace, and vice versa. You can publish templates to the template library if you need to move activities between workspaces.

1. Click your workspace name in the top left

2. Click "Create workspace" in the menu

3. Fill out the new workspace details

These details can be previewed on the right side. The details include:

  1. Name of the workspace (e.g. "Orchard Academy Parents" or "NAIS Conference 2025").

  2. Logo upload.

  3. Workspace color.

  4. Visibility of unlisted or private. An unlisted workspace will allow people to join via a link while a private workspace will be invite-only via email domain (see #5) or specific emails.

  5. Email domains for specifying who can join. If you want to invite specific emails rather than whole domains, see the section below on sharing.

  6. Self-harm moderator emails. This by default is the workspace creator's email. Additional moderator emails can be added. Moderators will be notified by email when any messages indicating self-harm are sent within the workspace.

4. Click Create

5. Share your new workspace

Once created, a sharing panel will open. Here, you can copy the sharing link, invite individual members via email, and change the visibility or email domains you set before.
