The Chat-to-Activity feature allows educators to seamlessly transform their planning conversations with Sparky into fully-formed Flint activities. This eliminates the need to manually copy and paste content, making it easier to go from ideation to implementation.
In summary, this feature:
Converts chat conversations into activity prompts automatically
Appears as a "Start Activity Builder" button within your chat
Works best when you explicitly tell Sparky you want to create a Flint activity
Preserves your original chat while creating a new activity
Pre-fills the activity prompt based on your conversation
Allows full editing and customization after conversion
Has no limitations on chat length
Why use this feature?
For new teachers: If you're just getting started with Flint, you might naturally begin in chats without realizing activities are where you build structured learning experiences. This feature bridges that gap seamlessly.
For brainstorming: Use Sparky as a thought partner to develop and refine your activity ideas through conversation, then convert the final concept into an activity with one click—no more copying summaries or switching between windows.
For efficiency: Skip the old workflow of asking Sparky to summarize your conversation, copying it, navigating to Activities, and pasting it in. Now it's automatic.
How to convert a chat to an activity
Step 1: Start a conversation with Sparky
In any chat, discuss your activity idea with Sparky. For best results, explicitly mention that you want to create a Flint activity.
Example: "I'd like to create a Flint activity about the water cycle for my 5th grade science class."
Step 2: Look for the "Start Activity Builder" button
Once Sparky understands you want to create an activity, a "Start Activity Builder" button will appear in the chat interface.
Step 3: Click the button
Clicking "Start Activity Builder" will take you directly to the Flint activity creation page with your activity prompt already filled in based on your conversation.
Step 4: Customize and publish
From here, you can edit the prompt, adjust settings, and publish your activity just like any other Flint activity. Your original chat remains unchanged and accessible.
Tips for best results
Be explicit: Tell Sparky "I want to turn this into a Flint activity" or "Help me create an activity about [topic]" to trigger the conversion option
Refine first: Take time to develop your idea fully in the chat before converting—the more detailed your conversation, the better your starting prompt
Edit freely: The converted activity is fully editable, so don't worry about getting everything perfect in the chat
Use for planning: Think of chats as your planning space and activities as your implementation space
What happens to my original chat?
Your chat stays exactly as it is. Converting to an activity creates a new activity based on your conversation—it doesn't move or delete the chat.
