For a Lesson with Sparky, Sparky writes a session analysis: what the student did well, where they struggled, and what to do next. It is qualitative — it explains the work rather than just scoring it. Test or Quiz activities use question-level results instead; see Activity analytics.
Where to find it
- Open the activity.
- Click the student's session in the table. Teachers who can edit the lesson have a heading filter with Sessions, My sessions and Archived sessions. Students open their submitted session from Your sessions.
- Session analysis sits above the transcript, at the top of the page.
The section holds three cards — Strengths, Areas of improvement and Follow-up — with the student's grade in the top right when a grade exists. For rubric-graded lessons, teachers use Edit feedback to review and edit comments in a side panel. After submission, students see their saved feedback and can use View rubric feedback when rubric viewing is enabled. Ungraded lessons use Teacher Feedback alongside the analysis.
While Sparky is still working, the section reads "The session is being analyzed. It could take up to 2 minutes."
Who can see it
Once a session has been submitted, anyone who can open that session sees its analysis — including the student who wrote it.
Before it is submitted, only people who can edit the activity or the class see it, and only after Sparky has analysed it. In that window the section carries an Only visible to you badge so you know the student cannot see it yet.
What you can do with it
- Check the evidence. When a phrase in the analysis is linked, click the phrase to jump to the supporting moment in the transcript.
- Change the grade. For a submitted, analyzed, unarchived session in an activity you can edit, an existing grade in the top right is a dropdown. Picking a new one asks you to Confirm Grade Change first, because it overrides Sparky's auto-grading. Grades you set here flow straight into the gradebook.
- Leave feedback in your own words. For a submitted, analyzed, unarchived session in an activity you can edit, click Add feedback or Edit feedback under Teacher Feedback for an ungraded lesson, write your comments, then click Save. For a rubric-graded lesson, click Edit feedback to open the grading panel, edit the category feedback or grades, and click Save feedback. Clear edits discards unsaved panel changes. The rubric panel is unavailable while the session analysis is pending. Unarchive an archived session before changing its grade or feedback. Share feedback then lets you Notify via email, which sends the student a link back to their session.
- Build on it. Create a follow-up activity at the foot of the Follow-up card opens the activity builder with a draft aimed at what this student needs.
Sharing a session
Sharing a session shares its analysis with it, which is useful when a student has more than one teacher.
- Open a saved, unarchived session you can edit, outside preview mode.
- Click Share session at the top of the page; check More actions if the button is collapsed.
- Type a name or email address and click Invite. Once the person has been added, set Can view or Can edit on their row.
- Click Done.
Only session editors see and manage the people list. Other session viewers can inspect General access and use Copy link, but cannot invite people or change permissions. Copying the link does not grant access.
