Every class has one sharing link. Students and other participants can open the class only when its Status is Published and its access permissions let them in. Eligible recipients open the link and click Join class to join; opening the link alone does not enroll them.
Copy the link
Anyone who can open a class can copy its link. The link lives in three places. They all copy the same address, and the button reads Copied! once it's on your clipboard. Changing access permissions or adding people requires Can edit access to the class.
- Share class at the top of the class's Activities page.
- Copy class sharing link in the class's … menu in the sidebar — hover over the class under Classes to see it.
- Copy class sharing link on the class's People page, available to class editors.
Watch: Check a class audience before copying its link
Choose who the link lets in
For a class you can edit, click Settings in the class sidebar, check that Status is Published for participant access, and set Access permissions. Read the audience description shown under each option: the school or term's more restrictive permissions set the audience boundary. The table describes the usual school-scoped case; your displayed audience may differ.
| Option | What the link does |
|---|---|
| Open to your school | Anyone in your school can open the class, link or not — it also turns up when they search. |
| Anyone with the link | People within the displayed audience who have the link can open the class. It stays out of search. |
| Private | People with direct or inherited access can open the class. The link alone does not grant ordinary participants access. |
Private does not remove inherited editor access or eligible term content moderators' access through a direct link.
Click Save when you're done. For more on these options, see Access permissions in Flint and How can I change the access permissions of my class in Flint?.
Add people instead
For a class you can edit, click People in the class sidebar, then Add people, and paste email addresses or upload a CSV with an email column. Click Next, review the people and roles, and give co-teachers Can edit rather than the default Can participate. Click the dialog's Add button, then Save on the People page and confirm Save. Nobody is added until you save. How to make a new class walks through it step by step.
